COVID-19 infections are growing in 47 states, but Texas is the only state to see “very high” viral activity in the wastewater, the CDC reported.
Here is what to know.
1. As of Sept. 4, respiratory illness activity in the U.S. is currently very low. Emergency department visits across the nation for flu and RSV are very low but increasing, while COVID-19 hospitalizations are low at 0.6% nationally.
2. As of Sept. 4, respiratory illness activity in Texas is overall low, but ED visits for COVID-19 are moderate and increasing. Community viral activity levels, indicated by wastewater monitoring, in the state are very high for COVID-19.
3. As of Sept. 2, the CDC estimates that COVID-19 infections are growing or likely growing in 47 states. Two states — Mississippi and Louisiana — have seen no change, and the CDC does not have data for Iowa.
