Sixty-three percent of those surveyed said their experience was negative or very negative. The poll draws on interviews Gallup conducted with 1,573 uninsured Americans from Oct. 23 to Nov. 18. During that time period, 17 percent of Americans said they were uninsured, and 21 percent of the uninsured said they personally visited or attempted to visit a state or federal exchange site.
Of those surveyed, 28 percent visited the federal site, 14 percent visited a state exchange site and 18 percent went to both. Forty percent were unsure about which type of site they visited, according to the poll.
These results add hard numbers to recent reports that Americans have been frustrated with the exchanges, according to Gallup. The federal exchange site, HealthCare.gov, has experienced numerous glitches since its launch last month. However, federal officials from CMS and HHS have said they are working around the clock to fix the site and vow to have it operating smoothly by the end of this month.
