Maryland governor launches $2M COVID-19 booster lottery 

Maryland Gov. Larry Hogan launched Feb. 8 a COVID-19 booster action plan, including a VaxCash 2.0 promotion awarding $2 million in cash prizes to a total of 12 residents who have been vaccinated and received their booster shots in the state..

The initial drawing of $500,000 will be Feb. 15. Prizes of $50,000 will be awarded weekly for the following 10 weeks. One resident will be awarded a grand prize of $1 million on May 3. 

In addition to the VaxCash 2.0 initiative, the new booster action plan also:

  • Expands call- and text-based outreach to all residents who are eligible for boosters through the state’s GoVAX campaign.
  • Offers booster shots at many hospital-based testing sites in addition to the 539 pharmacies and clinics across the state.
  • Expands the mission of the Vaccine Equity Task Force to offer clinics with community partners that are focused on booster shots
