Littleton (Colo.) Adventist Hospital. Littleton Adventist Hospital formed its Green Team in 2008 to establish an environmentally responsible culture and promote environmental awareness. This year, the team involved the community in Earth Day and added hydroponic grow towers to the hospital’s kitchen gardens, among other accomplishments. Other sustainability efforts include installing 100 percent LED lighting and eliminating drain disposal of all medications. This year, Virginia Mason was recognized as one of Practice Greenhealth’s Top 25 Environmental Excellence Award winners and achieved Gold Level in the Colorado Environmental Leadership Program.
