In 2023, the Northeast has had the highest number of hospital visits per 100,000 for tick bites at 115, followed by the Midwest at 68. Lyme disease accounts for upward of 80 percent of all tick-borne diseases, the CDC said.

The increase of tick bites and diseases may be due to mild winters, NHPR reported July 24.
