The awards will help provide care for approximately 1.25 million additional patients. Health centers are community-based and patient-focused, and they help link individuals to care. They also help those who are uninsured enroll in new health insurance options available in the health insurance marketplaces, according to HHS.
Currently, around 1,200 health centers operate more than 9,000 healthcare delivery sites that provide care to over 21 million patients in the nation.
