Sixty-five HCA facilities will join local law enforcement to collect unused and expired prescription medications in 15 states.
Last year, HCA’s Nashville-based TriStar Division, which includes 19 hospitals in three states, hosted a “Crush the Crisis” event, during which more than 224 pounds of medication were anonymously collected at eight hospitals.
“We were excited about the success of our TriStar Division’s take-back day last year and knew that with HCA Healthcare’s scale, we could make an even greater impact by expanding this program to more of the communities we serve,” said Dr. Michael Schlosser, vice president of clinical excellence and surgical services at HCA.
Later this year, more than 20 HCA facilities also will host opioid take-back events.
HCA has 184 hospitals and about 2,000 care sites in 21 U.S. states and the United Kingdom.
