Harborview Medical Center (Seattle). For the fifth consecutive year, Harborview Medical Center received the Top 25 Environmental Excellence Award from Practice Greenhealth in 2016. Additionally, the hospital received four Circles of Excellence Awards this year for sustainability efforts in climate, environmentally preferable purchasing, waste and greening the operating room. The Harborview surgical services team has been integral in greening the OR, coming up with several ways to reduce waste, including recycling plastics, reusing reusable surgical items like gowns and towels and providing ongoing education on proper segregation of waste.
