The meta-analysis evaluated nine studies published between January 2020 and January 2023, in which long COVID was self-reported or physician-diagnosed. Rhinitis and preexisting asthma were connected to a higher risk of long COVID, but the evidence linking asthma and long COVID was more uncertain than the condition’s association with rhinitis, according to the study.

In conclusion, the researchers said preexisting asthma or rhinitis could increase the risk of long COVID-19.
