Children’s Hospital Association opened a new population health department and appointed Heidi Baskfield as vice president of mental and population health.
The department was created to support children’s hospitals in addressing mental, behavioral, and physical health; help unify leadership and focus strategies across hospitals; and strengthen partnerships between mental and community health spaces, according to a March 3 association news release.
Previously, Ms. Baskfield served as vice president of population health and advocacy at Aurora-based Children’s Hospital Colorado.
“Right now, children and adolescents are facing a nationwide mental health crisis,” she said in the news release. “Children’s hospitals are often the most accessible support families can find when their child is in crisis, which is why it’s critical to build up programs that address the whole health of a child – including mental and behavioral health.”
