Boston Medical Center. Boston Medical Center received the City of Boston Carbon Cup in 2015 for its commitment to reducing greenhouse gas emissions in half by 2020. The hospital partnered with Gloucester fishermen’s Wives Association to provide fresh fish to patients and visitors, which reduces its carbon footprint. The hospital also increased its recycling rate by 50 percent in one year, and increased access to electric charging stations in its parking garages and the capacity of on-site bicycle cages. In 2016, BMC earned the Greenhealth Emerald Award from Practice Greenhealth for its sustainability efforts.
