In 2011, the Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act provided at least one new free preventive service to approximately 54 million people with private health insurance and approximately 32.5 million people with Medicare, according to a news release from the Department of Health and Human Services.
Under the PPACA, many insurance plans have to provide full coverage for several preventive health services, including colonoscopy screenings, Pap smears, mammograms, well-child visits and flu shots.
