Proposed Change in Illinois Hospital Licensing Includes New Requirements for Cesarean Births

The Illinois Department of Public Health has issued several proposed changes for hospital licensing, including some pertaining to obstetric and neonatal care.

Proposed updates related to sections on obstetric and neonatal care and obstetric departments have been proposed to reflect current industry and regulatory standards. The proposed updates also include a new section containing minimum requirements for caesarean births and repeal of a section outlining special programs.

 

In addition, regulations regarding orders for medications and treatments are being amended to add a 72-hour deadline for signing telephone orders, and another section governing medical records is being amended to clarify who may authenticate telephone orders.
