“Patient safety was not impacted by this issue; however, there was a chance some surgical instruments may have been affected,” a spokesperson told the newspaper.
The hospital canceled surgeries June 23 “out of an abundance of caution” and reprocessed all of the instruments.
While the surgery schedule resumed June 24, some surgeries scheduled for the week of June 26 were rescheduled as Fauquier Health completes “unplanned maintenance” on its reprocessing equipment.
The spokesperson told Fauquier Times the maintenance is unrelated to the leak.
