Hospital officials said people in the affected area were evacuated as a precaution while they investigated.
Shortly after, hospital officials determined the smell was pepper spray, mace or a similar lachrymatory agent. Allegedly, a child found the agent and sprayed it in the area.
Officials aired out the area and the incident was resolved.
