A spokesperson for the 84-bed hospital told The Press Democrat an unidentified patient’s family member called the facility and “verbally threatened to shoot [the] patient’s visitor,” according to the report.
Hospital officials reported the incident and issued a facility lockdown around 7:48 p.m. March 28 as a precautionary measure, police said. A spokesperson for the police department told the publication the threat turned out to be “unfounded.”
The Sutter Santa Rosa Hospital spokesperson said, “At all times, the building was secure and safety protocols were followed. Patients, visitors and staff remained safe. The hospital stayed open through the evening, without incident and operations continued uninterrupted serving our patients.”
The spokesperson added the family member who issued the call did not show up to the hospital and that the facility operated as normal March 29. However, officials took “extra measures to screen visitors” that day.
