It all started when Joshua Jerome Montgomery, 33, who had a gun, allegedly threatened to kill a female passenger riding with him and himself while near a Tuscaloosa convenience store, the report states.
The woman, who got away, reported the incident, and police later began a vehicle pursuit with Mr. Montgomery. Police said in the report the hospital was placed on partial lockdown once they saw Mr. Montgomery traveling toward the facility. According to the report, police said Mr. Montgomery eventually surrendered to law enforcement after a standoff in the hospital emergency room parking lot. The 33-year-old will receive treatment at a psychiatric facility.
