Sen. Murray is the first female senator from Washington. She has placed a major focus on healthcare-related initiatives. In addition to leading the charge on the Senate investigation of Olympus scopes linked to antimicrobial-resistant superbug infections, she has been part of a variety of legislation that advocates for patients. These include investing in IT programs such as telehealth for underserved populations and championing health insurance for millions of children. Sen. Murray has also worked to pass legislation that ensures medical devices and drugs for children have to go through special Food and Drug Administration approval.
