Patient Safety Awareness Week Begins March 8

The Joint Commission has marked March 8-14 as National Patient Safety Awareness Week, according to a Joint Commission news release.

The week is a national education and awareness campaign by the commission to improve patient safety at a local level.

The week encourages patients and their families to become more involved and informed about their health care and promotes The Joint Commission’s Speak Up patient educational program.

Hospitals and other healthcare organizations are encouraged to promote patient safety within their own organizations during the week.
