Pascale Carayon, PhD. Human Factors Engineering Expert.
As an expert in human factors engineering Dr. Carayon has studied medical errors and their causes in a variety of healthcare settings, including outpatient surgery, intensive care units, information technology, medical devices, medication administration, and working environment for healthcare professionals. Dr. Carayon is a professor at The University of Wisconsin-Madison, where she has served as director of the university’s Center for Quality and Productivity Improvement since 1999. Dr. Carayon is the author of the Handbook of Human Factors and Ergonomics in Health Care and Patient Safety and a volunteer for local, national and international organizations to help reduce medical errors and improve patient safety.
