The ASMBS BSCOE program was created to recognize bariatric surgery centers that perform well and to help surgeons and hospitals continue to improve the quality and safety of care provided.

Foundation Surgical Hospital of San Antonio and San Antonio bariatric surgeons Terive Duperier, MD, Michael Seger, MD, and Ramiro Cavazos, MD, recently underwent a series of site inspections as part of the certification process during which all aspects of the program’s surgical processes were closely examined and data on health outcomes was collected.

“Every aspect of Foundation Surgical Hospital of San Antonio was planned for delivery of the absolute best patient care. Our pre-operation areas are within steps of each other, our patient suites are spacious and comfortable, we have invested in the most advanced technology and partnered with some of the city’s best surgeons,” Bob Trussell, CEO of Foundation Surgical Hospital of San Antonio, said in the release. “Due to the increasing prevalence of morbid obesity and the inherent risks and the opportunities available to greatly improve the health of this patient population, we recognize and support the ASMBS’s systematic approach to improving the quality of bariatric programs across the U.S.”
