Los Angeles-based Cedars-Sinai has been designated as a Rare Disease Center of Excellence by the National Organization for Rare Disorders.
The health system joins a group of 46 other healthcare organizations that aim to accelerate rare disease diagnoses, expand care access and bolster the pipeline of future rare disease experts.
Joyce So, MD, PhD, the system’s inaugural chief genomics officer, and Saquib Lakhani, MD, director of the early detection program at Cedars-Sinai Guerin Children’s, will serve as co-directors of the center.
Dr. So also serves as medical director of the system’s newly established Center for Genomic Medicine at Guerin Children’s.
