Dr. Brambrink, a professor at Oregon Health and Science University in Portland, will use the Frontiers in Anesthesia Research Award to investigate the long-term consequences of anesthesia exposure in infant monkeys.
“The proposed experiments will address a question that has potentially important public health implications — does exposure of the infant monkey brain to a clinically relevant anesthesia protocol on one occasion or on multiple occasions cause long-term neurobehavioral disturbances?” said Dr. Brambrink.
Dr. Brambrink said he hopes to apply the relevancy of his experimental model to the human condition.
