One employee was injured in a shooting at Corewell Health Beaumont Troy (Mich.) Hospital March 20.

The Troy Police Department said in a live briefing it responded to reports of gunfire in the parking garage around 7:08 a.m. Lt. Ben Hancock said the incident involved two employees in a targeted attack. One employee allegedly fired five shots at the second employee, a 25-year-old man, who was hit twice in the arm. He was taken into the hospital to be treated and is in stable condition.

The suspect was found in a residence and surrendered to the SWAT team without incident.

The hospital is in lockdown and is rescheduling appointments for March 20.

“We are working with local law enforcement,” hospital officials said in a statement to WXYZ. “Out of an abundance of caution, the hospital is on lockdown. One victim is in the emergency department for medical treatment. Patients with services scheduled should not come to the hospital at this time. Patients may call the department where they were scheduled for service directly. No other information is available at this time.”

This is a breaking story. Becker’s will update this post as more information becomes available.
