The deadline for commitments is Aug. 31. Winners will be announced in September.

“We are excited that President Carter is offering this special trip again this year. It will motivate some healthy competition for our hospitals around the globe to save lives from human errors,” said Joe Kiani, founder of the Patient Safety Movement. “The Carter Center has helped improve the quality of life for more than 80 countries and is on the verge of eradicating guinea worm disease, the second disease ever to be eradicated, after small pox. We appreciate their support in recognizing those that are helping to eliminate preventable patient deaths.”

The Carter Center is a nonprofit organization founded by Jimmy and Rosalyn Carter in partnership with Emory University in Atlanta. The Center is dedicated to the advancement of human rights and the alleviation of human suffering.
