Patient dies after visit from suspicious man at Phoenix hospital

Police are investigating the death of a Phoenix hospital patient who died shortly after being visited by an unidentified man, according to NBC affiliate 12 News.

Brandon Werner, 41, died Aug. 30 at HonorHealth Deer Valley Medical Center. He was seeking treatment for diabetes complications. Hospital employees told police they saw a “suspicious” man visit Mr. Werner’s hospital room for about 15 minutes, Phoenix Police Detective Luis Samudi told azfamily.com.

A nurse went to check on Mr. Werner after the visit and found him unresponsive and foaming at the mouth. Staff members’ attempts to revive Mr. Werner were unsuccessful.

Phoenix police have not yet identified a person of interest in the investigation. 

Scottsdale, Ariz.-based HonorHealth could not provide additional information about the case, as the investigation is ongoing, a spokesperson told Becker’s.
