New York City-based NYU Langone Health opened NYU Langone Ambulatory Care—Patchogue, N.Y., July 13, a 54,000-square-foot facility that expands surgical and specialty care access across Suffolk County, according to a news release shared with Becker’s.
The center features six operating rooms where surgeons from nearby NYU Langone Hospital—Suffolk perform general surgery, as well as procedures relating to urology, orthopedics, hand surgery, podiatry, plastic surgery, gynecology and pain management. Multispecialty physician practices operate alongside surgical services under one roof.
“This location provides our patients in Suffolk County with even greater access to expert clinicians and the seamless, top-quality care experience that defines NYU Langone,” said Alec Kimmelman, MD, PhD, dean and CEO of NYU Langone.
Oren Cahlon, MD, executive vice president and chief clinical officer, said advances in surgical technique are enabling more procedures to shift safely to outpatient settings. The Patchogue center aims to put those services closer to where patients live.
The opening is part of a broader Long Island expansion. NYU Langone recently said it plans to build an academic medical center in Melville, N.Y., and open an ASC in Manhasset, N.Y., later this year.
