Pending regulatory approval, a Michigan university plans to revive a nursing school with the help of Trinity Health as a clinical partner.
Siena Heights University in Adrian, Mich., closed after the 2025-26 school year. Its three accredited nursing programs may find a new home at Howell, Mich.-based Cleary University. Brighton, Mich.-based Trinity Health Livingston said it will serve as the anchor clinical partner to the nursing students.
On July 22, the two universities announced an agreement to transition Siena Heights University’s nursing programs to Cleary. The three programs are Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) pre-licensure, an RN-to-BSN degree, and Master of Science in Nursing (MSN) degree.
“Upon receiving approvals, the goal is to roll out the RN to BSN degree program first; the BSN pre-licensure and MSN programs would follow within the year,” according to the universities. The transition requires approval from the Higher Learning Commission, the Michigan Board of Nursing, the State of Michigan, the Department of Education and the Commission on Collegiate Nursing Education.
