CMS has announced five hospitals that will participate in its Graduate Nurse Education Demonstration.
For the demonstration, CMS will provide funding — up to $50 million annually over four years — to the five participating hospitals to clinically train advanced practice registered nursing students. The graduate nurse education program is mandated by the Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act.
Here are the five hospitals chosen:
- Duke University Hospital in Durham, N.C.
- Hospital of the University of Pennsylvania in Philadelphia.
- Memorial Hermann-Texas Medical Center Hospital in Houston.
- Rush University Medical Center in Chicago.
- Scottsdale (Ariz.) Healthcare Medical Center.
Training more APRNS is seen as a way to increase the base of primary care providers in the U.S., according to CMS.
