AANP sent an electronic survey to more than 59,000 clinically active NPs nationwide, and 5,770 responded.
Three report findings:
1. As of December 2019, an estimated 290,000 NPs were licensed in the U.S., up from about 270,000 in January 2019.
2. The four most common NP certifications in 2019 were:
- Family (65.4 percent)
- Adult (12.6 percent)
- Adult-gerontology (7.8 percent)
- Pediatrics (3.7 percent)
3. The median base salary for full-time NPs was $110,000. The median total income, which includes bonuses, was $115,000.
