Effective Feb. 1, the National Council Licensure Examination will have a $350 registration fee for test-takers in the U.S., an increase from the current $200 price.
“This is the first adjustment to the NCLEX registration fee since 2000,” the National Council of State Boards of Nursing said Aug. 21. “The change reflects 25 years of inflation and rising costs associated with exams, data protection and cybersecurity.”
The NCBSN’s delegate assembly recently voted to approve the pricing change for the NCLEX, which tests a person’s capabilities as a practical or registered nurse and is used for licensure in the U.S., Canada and Australia.
Those who register for the test on or after Feb. 1 in the U.S. or Australia will need to pay $350, while those in Canada will need $570 Canadian dollars. The current price in Canada is $360. Other fees, such as the $150 international scheduling fee, will remain the same.
