Tallahassee-based Florida State University received a $10 million gift to expand its nurse education program.
The gift comes from the Fairholme Foundation and is the largest-ever to the College of Nursing, according to a Sept. 22 university news release. The funds will be used to expand the undergraduate nursing program to the Panama City campus, add cutting-edge technologies and fund faculty research to advance healthcare for aging populations.
FSU will also invest its own resources to undertake renovations, secure equipment and hire staff for the program.
The Fairholme Foundation is co-chaired by Bruce Berkowitz, chief investment officer of Fairholme Capital Management and president and a director of Fairholme Funds, and his wife, Tracey Berkowitz.
