Windsor, Vt.-based Mount Ascutney Hospital and Health Center and Claremont, N.H.-based Valley Regional Hospital jointly launched emergency department and medical-surgical nurse residency programs.

The inaugural cohorts launched this summer, with one in ED residency cohort hosted by Valley Regional Hospital and three med-surg residency cohorts hosted by Mount Ascutney Hospital, according to a hospital news release. Going forward, the cohorts will take place in January/February and July/August each year.

The ED residency is designed for both new graduates and experienced nurses transitioning to emergency nursing and uses curriculum developed by the Emergency Nurses Association. The med-surg residency is a three-week intensive program followed by 12 or more weeks of guided clinical practice.

Mount Ascutney Hospital and Health Center and Valley Regional Hospital are part of Lebanon, N.H.-based Dartmouth Health.
