6 nursing grants over $3M fighting nurse shortages in 2022

Here are six major nursing grants and donations used to fight nurse shortages in 2022:

  1. UnitedHealth Group’s philanthropic arm, The United Health Foundation, said Dec. 1 it is partnering with the American Nurses Foundation on a three-year, $3.1 million program aimed at fighting burnout among nurses.
  2. Leonard Lauder, chairman emeritus of Estée Lauder, will donate $52 million to the nursing school at Hunter College — a record donation for the public New York City school.
  3. The University of Arkansas at Fort Smith will double its nursing program after a $9.9 million donation.
  4. Greenville, S.C.-based Prisma Health invested $5 million into pilot nursing recruitment programs at five colleges across the state.
  5. The Labor Department invested $80 million of funding in support of nursing training programs.
  6. Grand Rapids, Mich.-based BHSH System will invest more than $20 million over the next five years to increase the state’s nursing workforce through a partnership with Oakland (Mich.) University.
