UMMC’s award will recognize a program the medical center successfully implemented to reduce inpatient falls from 6.2 falls per 1,000 patient days during August 2014 to 1.19 falls per 1,000 days by the end of the year.

North Shore-LIJ will received the award for its efforts to ensure accurate patient identification through a structured, standardized process implemented in all inpatient, ambulatory, clinical and nonclinical settings systemwide.

The awards will be officially presented to the recipient organizations at the 17th Annual NPSF Patient Safety Congress in Austin, Texas, held between April 29 and May 1.
