NJ hospital CMO recognized for expanding healthcare access to LGBTQ+ community

Tucker Woods, MD, CMO at Jersey City, N.J.-based CarePoint Health Christ Hospital, was honored for his initiative and leadership in expanding healthcare access to the LGBTQ+ community during the 2018 Hudson County Pride Month Kick Off & Community Awards ceremony, according to TAPinto Bayonne.

In March, Hudson, N.J.-based CarePoint Health partnered with the Hudson Pride Center to increase access to healthcare forpeople in the LGPTQ+ community.

Dr. Woods spearheaded CarePoint Health's efforts, earning him The Evolution Award, which recognizes an individual’s advocacy and activism within the LGBTQ+ community.

"When considering everything we have accomplished so far, and what we will continue to do, it touches my heart to receive this award because we are making a difference — we are improving the lives and health of our LGBT patients," Dr. Woods said, according to TAPinto Bayonne. "This truly is an evolution, as we have just scratched the surface. Going forward, we will continue to expand our medical care and treatment for this vital community. We are all in this for the long haul, and I am excited to see what else we can accomplish — together."
