The grant funds three innovation accelerator groups in Ohio, Massachusetts and California. Each group will receive approximately $10 million to assist the NIH in changing the way research is translated into commercially available treatments, according to a news release.
In Massachusetts, the Boston Biomedical Innovation Center includes Boston-based Brigham and Women’s Hospital, Boston Children’s Hospital, Boston-based Massachusetts General Hospital and the President and Fellows of Cambridge, Mass.-based Harvard College
In Ohio, the Cleveland Clinic Innovation Accelerator is comprised of the Cleveland Clinic Lerner College of Medicine, Cleveland-based Case Western Reserve University, Cincinnati Children’s Hospital, The Ohio State University at Columbus and University of Cincinnati.
In California, the UC BRAID Center for Accelerated Innovation includes the University of California-Los Angeles, University of California-Davis, University of California-Irvine, University of California-San Diego and University of California-San Francisco
To show a commitment to accelerating treatment innovation, each group has secured funding greater than or equal to the NIH’s contributions, according to the news release.
