Monique Rodgers gave birth to premature twins at Chandler Regional in February. In the video, three staff members are transferring her daughter, Morgan, to a new set of blankets when she flips out of a clinician’s hand and lands head-first on the table. Ms. Rodgers’ husband, Derrick, captured the incident on film.
Ms. Rodgers claimed the hospital never notified them that Morgan was dropped. The infant has a grade 1 hemorrhage on the left side of her brain, but it is unclear whether this is related to the fall.
Chandler Regional officials said they could not comment on Morgan’s case due to patient privacy laws, but noted they are reviewing the incident in a written statement to the Arizona Republic.
“The safety of our patients and their families is always our top concern,” hospital leaders said. “The medical team at Dignity Health Chandler Regional Medical Center takes this matter extremely seriously.”
