The goal of the program is to reduce psychiatric hospitalizations through interventions by mobile health teams, according to the Daily Freeman. The teams will provide a rapid response team to assess individuals and resolve crisis situations. The service is set to launch next week.
The service will be available to children and adults from 1 p.m. to 11 p.m. every day, but the county legislature hopes to expand the services to 24 hours through increases in funding, according to the report. The county suggested the program as a way to compensate for the closure of the Hudson River Psychiatric Center.
The program is modeled after similar ones in New York’s Dutchess, Orange and Sullivan counties, according to the report.
