AVERT is an electronic system that administers a private survey to patients in audio and visual formats in lieu of the traditional mental health interview a patient has with a primary care physician.

The system alerts physicians immediately if a patient score indicates he or she is at risk for suicide.

According to an ERT press release, 50 percent of suicide victims see a primary care physician 30 days or less before their suicide.
