The announcement, shared Thursday at a news conference, comes in the wake of recent national tragedies, including mass shootings in Orlando, Fla., and San Bernardino, Calif.
“At Navicent Health, our number one priority is people. That is why we say, ‘everything about us is all about you.’ At the end of the day, strategy and operations do not matter if you are not dedicated to the people you exist to serve. At this time, there is a national emphasis on ensuring the security of our citizens. In light of recent events nationwide, Navicent Health will renew its ongoing commitment to the safety of our patrons and our community,” Ninfa M. Saunders, DHA, MSN, RN, president and CEO of Navicent Health, said in a prepared statement.
Navicent Health’s current security measures, as stated in a news release, include:
- Security at facility entrances and exits, including badge access requirements for all non-public areas
- Increased Navicent Health Police Department foot patrol throughout Navicent Health facilities
- Manned security camera systems throughout Navicent Health facilities
- Radio communication in partnership with local emergency response agencies
- Security provided for all Navicent Health events
- Security training for all employees during new employee orientation
Navicent Health’s future security goals, as stated in a news release, include:
- Addition of Code Blue Emergency Lightsin all parking decks
- Annual active shooter training and education for all Navicent Health employees
- Hiring of additional mandated police officers and communications officers
- Increased lighting of facility exteriors
