National Healthcare Safety Network extends HAI reporting deadline

CMS has announced the deadline for eligible inpatient and cancer hospitals, inpatient rehabilitation facilities and long-term care hospitals to submit data on healthcare-associated infections to the National Healthcare Safety Network has been extended through Feb. 27.

The deadline — which was originally Feb. 15 — has been extended exclusively for HAI data. The Feb. 15 deadline remains for inpatient, inpatient rehabilitation facility quality and long-term care hospitals.

CMS cited “periodic latency” using the system as the reason for the extension.
