The new Center for Computational and Systems Pathology will deploy advanced computer science and mathematical techniques alongside cutting-edge microscope technology and artificial intelligence to create new diagnostic, predictive and prognostic tests to bolster ongoing precision medicine initiatives conducted by Mount Sinai researchers.
“Our goal is to provide a precise mathematical approach to classifying and treating disease, which will assist our clinicians with information for effective patient care and health management,” said Carlos Cordon-Cardo, MD, PhD, who will oversee the new center, which is located at Mount Sinai St. Luke’s in New York. “By refining diagnoses, we can save patients from unnecessary treatments.”
