Measles caused 124 hospitalizations this year: 3 updates

The CDC confirmed 21 additional measles cases last week, bringing the national total to 1,203 as of Aug. 15.

Three updates:

1. So far, 124 measles patients have required hospitalization this year, and 64 reported complications such as pneumonia and encephalitis.

2. Thirty states have reported measles cases this year. New York, Washington state and California are still experiencing measles outbreaks, defined as three or more confirmed cases.

3. More than three-fourths of measles cases are linked to New York's outbreaks.
