Thousands of people work at Google’s Silicon Valley location. The warning of the measles case was not distributed within Google or its parent company, Alphabet, and five employees told Buzzfeed News that they had not received the email or been told about the measles exposure.
In the April 13 email, David Kaye, MD, an occupational medicine physician at Google, said the worker had been in the office April 4. Google is working with the Santa Clara (Calif.) County Public Health Department to limit the measles exposure.
The U.S. has seen an uptick in measles cases in past years. So far in 2019, the CDC has reported 555 cases across 20 states, the agency said this week.
