The measles patient has previously been vaccinated and has a history of international travel.
“Luckily, our vaccination rates are very high, and even when we have imported cases, usually, the herd immunity is enough to prevent a full-scale outbreak,” Vit Kraushaar, MD, medical investigator for the South Nevada Health District, told NBC 3. “We just really want to make sure that people find out their own immunization status. If you haven’t been immunized, we recommend you go to your physician or healthcare provider and request to be immunized.”
Lab testing confirmed the case Dec. 24. People who may have been in contact with the patient have been notified, health officials stated.
