Legionella detected at 3 additional sites in the Bronx

New York City officials have announced three additional sites in the Bronx that have tested positive for Legionella, the bacteria responsible for Legionnaire’s disease, according to an NBC report. This brings the total number of affected sites to 14.

As of August 12, 119 people are sick with the disease and 12 have died in association with the current outbreak.

City officials said that the three sites have tested positive for the bacteria and have been disinfected or are in the process of being disinfected. Read the full list of affected sites here.
