“This is an important milestone for this patient and our care team,” said Igor Nichiporenko, MD, medical director of trauma services at Broward Health North.
The shooting, which occurred Wednesday at the school, left 17 people dead. Three Florida hospitals treated victims from the shooting, including Broward Health North. The hospital is roughly nine miles from the school and treated 17 people following the shooting, including two patients who died.
Two patients remain at Broward Health North in fair condition and two other patients are also in fair condition at Broward Health Medical Center in Fort Lauderdale, Fla.
The school will remain closed through Feb. 21, according to officials from Broward County Schools.
