Lab-confirmed flu cases begin to fall but overall rates remain elevated

The percentage of lab-confirmed cases of influenza fell for the week of March 20 through March 26, compared to the previous week, although flu activity in the U.S. remained above baseline levels, according to the CDC.

For the same week, three flu-associated pediatric deaths were reported, and the proportion of outpatient visits related to flu-like symptoms was 2.9 percent. Cumulatively for the season, there have been approximately 21.4 lab-confirmed hospitalizations for flu per 100,000.
