The death occurred in Lexington, which saw 27 deaths and more than 700 confirmed flu cases during the 2017-18 flu season.
The patient was in his or her 60s and had underlying health conditions. The health department could not identify a record of the patient receiving a flu shot, a health department spokesperson told LEX 18.
The CDC recommends everyone age 6 months and older receive a flu vaccine by the end of October.
